Review by The Minstrel Avenue Record:

As a follow-up to Paul's 1987 album I'd Rather Wait for a Ride, TMPB Recordings released One Too Many Women in the spring of 1988. It was the first of Paul's albums to receive countrywide distribution and featured singles Gonna Hear the Rock'n'Roll Play and Play Me a Love Song, although in 1989 previously underrated album track If You Looked in His Eyes began enjoying recognition as the album's best song.

Despite the popularity of the album's ballads, this album marks a no-nonsense return to the straight-up rock'n'roll influences that first got Paul interested in music. The sound is fresh and the production is more ambitious than his previous releases, inspiring many to call this album his best effort ever. Always insightful, Benshoof's lyrics on this album are often playful, but at times bitterly forceful. The album title perhaps offers explanation for his virtual mood swings.

Whether you're looking for honest tell-tale ballads or great rock with clever lyrics and an attitude, this is the album for you.
