Review by The Minstrel Avenue Record:
Designated as an "official bootleg," Unplugged and Unshaved contains an album's worth of live songs
from 1995 which were never intended to be released. Fortunately, Paul was able to salvage the 20-year-old tapes
and meticulously reconstruct those acoustic concerts (recorded over two nights), taking what he considered to be
the best recordings of each show and stitching them back together as a seamless performance--complete with band
chatter and audience interaction between songs. And then, as a bonus, he threw in a couple of extra tracks from
other acoustic concerts he performed in the same general time period, including a solo performance of If You
Looked in His Eyes, a single dating back to 1988 which had never before been performed on guitar.
Together, this album features live versions of songs from all six of his studio albums, including a very early
rendition of Another Rainy Day, which did not appear on an album until 2006. And I have to tell you,
Unplugged and Unshaved sounds better than any "official bootleg" you've previously encountered.
The CD is attractively packaged with photos and liner notes. You won't be disappointed!
